How Keqiao Quotes Jacquard by Pattern Scale (and Why a 1-Yard Order Still Works)
Share
Two jacquards can show the same flower and still land eight times apart on the invoice. The gap is not the brand. It is what the loom had to do to build the motif.
Why scale, not the label, sets the price
A jacquard's cost is decided at the loom, before the cloth is ever cut. When a weaver builds a large all-over motif, the loom runs longer per meter and pulls more yarn than it does for a small dobby dot. A $14 paisley jacquard and a $38.89 brocade can both be "jacquard" and still sit far apart in price because the repeat length and loom time are different. The word on the invoice does not explain the difference. The repeat does.
What to ask a supplier before you quote
The useful question is never "how much is the jacquard." It is "what is the repeat, and how is the quote built." A supplier who can answer that is the one whose cloth will actually fit your pattern. One who quotes only by the yard with no note about scale is the one who will surprise you at the re-cut.
We hold 96 jacquard constructions live by the yard, from the small dobby end to a dense brocade. The cheap end is not lesser cloth; it is a smaller repeat the loom builds quickly. The expensive end is a bigger repeat that takes more loom time, and on metallic styles, more yarn.
Why a one-yard order still makes sense
You do not commit to a bolt to learn any of this. Order one yard as a sample, lay the motif across your actual pattern pieces, and confirm the repeat fits before the full cut. For a brand running its first jacquard, that one yard is the cheapest insurance against a re-cut that costs more than the cloth.
Wholesale opens at 100 yards once the motif is yours to run, and a sample reaches North America in about nine working days. The same loom math that sets the price is what lets a small lot stay viable: because the goods are held by the yard rather than committed by the bolt, you pay for the length you actually test.
Start with the scale, not the color
Browse the full range in the jacquard fabric collection. For a large all-over statement, start with the Zhuang brocade jacquard; for a clean metallic motif, the metallic jacquard; for a soft botanical, the botanical jacquard cotton; for a forgiving paisley, the paisley floral jacquard. Order one yard of the scale you think fits and check the repeat against your pattern before the full cut.
